Local government authorities took part in a tree planting campaign.
The tree planting campaign "Let's save the forest" took place in the Vologda District. On the eve of the Day of Forest Workers, the Governor of the region planted 150 young pines together with deputies, forest industry workers and students of secondary schools.
"The main objective of the campaign is to preserve the natural wealth and keep our parks and green spaces clean. The tree planting campaign "Let's save the forest" is being held for the eleventh time in the Vologda District. The number of participants increases every year. Today, the trees were planted by schoolchildren together with the local government officials to reduce air pollution”, said Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
This year, the campaign started on August 21st and will last until November 30th. It is expected to plant more than 580,000 trees as part of it. 273 hectares of green cover with various plant species and natural vegetation will be developed throughout the region to maintain ecological balance.
