An art object "Under the Lace Sky" made by lace makers from nine countries will be presented in the bell tower of St. Sophia Cathedral, Vologda till the end of September.
IV International Lace Festival VITA LACE that collects everything related to the world of linen industry was postponed in line with a ban on large-scale events. The Festival announced it would postpone until 2022, taking into account the adverse epidemiological situation.
This year, it was planned to hold one of the key spectacular events of the International Lace Festival - a large-scale project "Under the Lace Sky". Lace makers from Russia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Montenegro and Latvia sent lace stars to Vologda. In summer an art object consisting of 848 lace stars was presented to the public. The laceworks are made of metallic threads of golden or silver colors.
The star symbolizes high aspirations, dreams and hopes. Sixty years ago, a historic event took place - on April 12, 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space, making a 108-minute orbital flight in his Vostok 1 spacecraft. Creation of a large-scale art object "Under the Lace Sky" emphasizes a bond of people on Earth and their existence in a single space, on the one hand, and the individuality of each inhabitant of the planet, on the other hand.
