The Olympic torch relay will take place in Vologda on October 20, 2013.

The ceremonial relaying of the Olympic Flame from Olympia, Greece, to the site of an Olympic Games began on October 7th. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin kicked off the Sochi 2014 Olympic torch relay. It will take 123 days to trek across the country in time for the Olympics opening ceremony.

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee approved the torchbearers for the Olympic torch relay, the presenting partners of which are companies Coca-Cola, "Ingosstrakh" and "Russian Railways". The selected torchbearers include 130 representatives from the Vologda Oblast. Sochi 2014 torchbearers include athletes, public figures, teachers, doctors, rescue workers, military personnel, coaches, war and labour heroes, students, pensioners and many others.

Overall, the torch will travel across more than 22,000 kilometers on the territory of the Vologda Oblast. Each torchbearer will run approximately 170 meters.
