Cherepovets Military Engineering College of Radio Electronics received a University status on the Day of Knowledge.
The Cherepovets Military Engineering College of Radio Electronics has received the status of a University and is starting out the new year with a new name – Military University of Radio Electronics of the Order of Zhukov.
The opening ceremony that was attended by members of the local government and prominent military figures took place on September 1, the Day of Knowledge in Russia.
In 1957 the Cherepovets Military College of Communication was established in the city of Cherepovets on funds of the reformed Lepelsky military and infantry school. In 1974 it was transformed to Cherepovets highest military engineering college of radio electronics with a five-year term of training.
For 63 years, over 14,500 officers graduated from Cherepovets higher military engineering school of radio electronics. The military training is provided at four faculties - engineering, command, faculty of radio communication and faculty of information technologies.
