A group of dancers “Severnye Zory” returned to Cherepovets after an eight-day tour of Israel.
The group participated in the 30th International Folklore Festival in Israel organised each summer by MAATAF, the Center for the Encouragement of Cultural Exchange and Folklore in Israel.
The International Folklore Festival in Israel has been continuously held by MAATAF since 1985. Each year 6-8 renowned folklore ethnic dance ensembles are invited to Israel to a feast of dance, sound and colour.
This year seven countries including Russia, China, Serbia, Brazil, Rumania, Nepal, Georgia took part in this festival. Each day the venues for the cultural shows were shifted from city to city so as to enable the maximum number of residents to get an opportunity to view the show.
The performances of the Severnye Zory was a great success. Director Mr. Zion Shlomi invited the dancers from the Vologda Oblast to come to Israel next summer to participate in the festival and showcase Russia’s rich and diverse culture.
