7th All-Russian Belov Readings opened in Vologda.
The Regional Scientific Library inaugurated the All-Russian Belov Readings "Belov. Vologda. Russia" on October 21. The forum, which brings together a wide range of admirers of the writer's work, all those interested in the preservation, study and promotion of the literary heritage of Vasily Belov, is taking place for the seventh time in Vologda. The epidemiological situation has put most of the events online this year, and one of the few offline events of Belov Readings was the opening of the forum, where the wife and daughter of the writer were the guests of honour.
Deputy Governor Larisa Kamanina welcomed the forum participants on behalf of the Government of the region, who helped to hold the readings. She said: “I want to thank Vasily Ivanovich Belov for giving us an opportunity to bring us together for this solemn opening at such a difficult time. On the one hand, this is how the epidemiological situation dictates it, but on the other hand, I am confident that it will allow us to attract even more admirers of Vasily Belov's work to our events and will allow participants from the most remote corners of the country to join our readings remotely. In the diverse programme of our current readings we have tried to take into account the interests of all categories of the population, from children to the elderly, because along with the aim of studying and promoting the literary heritage of Vasily Ivanovich, we pursue other important goals: attracting attention to the preservation of the Russian language and literature, motivation for reading, as well as spiritual, moral and patriotic education of young people.”
This year's Belov Readings programme includes a whole range of scientific, educational, educational and socio-cultural events. The largest events of the forum are a traditional scientific conference, a literary seminar of young authors, a contest of youth socio-economic projects for the development of rural areas, a literary marathon, an inter-museum video conference, and a dictation for adults. The very idea of Belov Readings originated in the Writer's Centre in Vologda, which was established 15 years ago in one of Vologda's small children's libraries during Belov's lifetime and with his direct participation.
