Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russian Government called Veliky Ustyug an outstanding example of regional growth point.
Within the framework of the Russian Investment Forum Sochi-2018 Mr. Medvedev participated in a plenary session “Investing in the Regions, Investing in the Future”.
The Prime Minister stressed that Russia had a revival of investment activity and the economic situation as a whole. The inflow of investments was high enough to promote an emergence of new industries. “To build a strong and healthy economy, our focus should be on making its structure as diverse as possible”, said Mr. Medvedev.
The Russian Government must concentrate its efforts on creating stable and predictable rules for businesses, ensuring investment growth and improving the business climate.
Dmitry Medvedev underlined that there is no reason to support the creation of similar manufacturing facilities in neighbouring regions and this implies the need for better planning investment strategies for each Russian region. Every city and every region can create new opportunities – a potentially successive industry or a competitive advantage. The primary goal of the Russian government is to create an environment where regional and local authorities can address issues in their own economic and social spheres. The Prime Minister indicated Veliky Ustyug (Vologda Region) and Myshkin (Yaroslavl Region) as outstanding examples of regional points of growth with effective development of tourism and small- and medium-sized businesses.
