Cartouches from Tot’ma, Vologda Oblast entered the final stage of Russia 10 competition of the main Russian sightseeing attractions.
During the competition 1 478 560 votes were given for cartouches, an original element of décor that does not occur in any other Russian church. This is the best result among sightseeing attractions of the Vologda Oblast.
The cartouche is a structure or figure, often in the shape of an oval shield or oblong scroll, used as an architectural or graphic ornament or to bear a design or inscription.
The second round of the Russia 10 competition united best 80 objects of sightseeing attractions. 80 objects from all over Russia will continue to fight for the right to enter the top ten new symbols of the country. The Vologda Oblast presented several items at the competition. Only cartouches entered the top thirty. At present it takes the 25th place in the tournament bracket.
The head of Tot’ma District Sergei Selyanin thanked everyone who participated in the voting and called to proceed active support of Tot’ma’s cartouches.
